3/8" Double Braid Polyester

Reins made with double braid polyester rope are excellent communication tools - great for natural horsemanship methods. Double braid rope is constructed with a braided cover over a separate braided core – a rope inside of a rope. This gives it a special "feel" and makes it heavier than regular rope so it communicates your cues better. This construction also allows for eye splicing and back splicing so reins can be finished in a wide variety of styles.
Custom order a set of reins that will be different than everyone else's! I can add decorative knots and braided trim to any set of reins to coordinate with your other equipment or just to make them special!

I can make reins in any length. Standard lengths for loop reins are 8’, 9’ and 10’ but I have made reins as short as 6' and as long as 13'. Standard length for mecate reins is generally 22', but I have made them shorter and longer. Split reins are normally around 7'. Since there is such a wide range of personal preference for reins as to length and style, I make most reins as they are ordered so you can get exactly what you want.
When ordering reins, please tell me the total length that you want. The total length includes the rope plus any and all connectors - button loops, water straps, snaps, etc. - but not tassels or leather poppers. I take the size of the connectors into account and splice the rope accordingly so the rope and the connectors come out to the desired length. Since this is a handmade product, I cannot guarantee the reins will be exactly a certain length but they will be within about 1 - 2". The rope and how it splices can vary depending on temperature and humidity of the factory when it was made or when I am making the splices, some colors vary slightly from others due to the dying process, etc.

Slobber Straps Connectors to use with mecate reins, loop reins or split reins.
Leather in 1-piece and 2-piece styles. Rope slobber straps made with 1/4" double braid.
Made with the same polyester yarn as all the other rope so it matches perfectly. It has a polyester cover and a separate polyester core. I can use the braiding cord with or without the core to create different effects on various items.
Loop Reins with Connectors A continuous piece of rope with a snap or some type of connector - rope or leather - on both ends for attachment to a bits, side pulls, bitless bridles, etc.

Split Reins / Driving Reins Two separate pieces of rope for western riding, driving, or ground driving. Many styles and options.
The rope options are shown below - double braid polyester, manufactured in the USA and designed specifically for the equine industry. I make most reins in the 1/2" size but I carry 3/8" double braid for those who like thinner, lighter weight reins and 5/8" double braid for those who want something more substantial.

Loop Reins to Tie On A continuous piece of rope with both ends tied onto slobber straps for attachment to a bit or both ends tied directly onto a rope halter, bosal, etc.
Mecate Reins One length of rope (usually around 22’ long) that is tied to a bosal or halter - or it can be used with slobber straps - making a loop for your reins and leaving a length as a lead rope.
