Button Loop Snap Alternative / Bucket Hanger
This is a handy gadget to hang buckets or to use as a connector on lead ropes or reins as a snap alternative. It is the same construction as my button loop connectors for reins: 1/4" double braid rope with a crown knot button and a sliding ring knot for opening and closing the loop. I offer them here as a single item. I can make them any length but I normally make them about 14-15" long for use as a bucket hanger, about 10-12" long for a connector.
Price: $8.00 each
Slide knot back to open up loop and adjust to different length, slide closed to lock in position
Braided Neck Rein
For riding bridle-less or as a balance aid when riding bareback. Made with the stiff halter cord. (I can make it with the soft rope but the stiff cord gives you better control for positioning.)
Price: $25.00 3-strand chain braid
$35.00 4-strand chain braid
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you.
A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap;
for the measure you give will be the measure you get back."
Luke 6:37-38 NRSV
Pocket Halter
This can be more convenient to take out into the field to get your horse than carrying a full halter and lead rope. It is also handy to keep in your saddle bag for emergencies. It is made with 1/4" rope so you can easily fold it up and put it in your pocket. Creating the loop with a tied knot and a simple whipped end on the tail keep it economical. The standard length is 12-13' -- enough to make the halter and leave about 8' for a lead rope. Let me know if you want it longer or shorter. This is NOT for tying up. And be aware that if the loop slips off the nose, the whole thing comes apart and your horse can get away.
Price: $8.00
3-strand
chain braid
Western Grab Strap
For saddles with a horn - also called a Nightlatch. A strap or rope is easier to keep hold of than a saddle horn during those "uh oh" moments. Strap goes through the gullet and around the pommel.
Price: $20.00
4-strand
chain braid
Chin Strap
A 101 uses for this little gadget. Adjustable. Made with braiding cord. Can make any length but standard chin strap/bit hobble adjusts from about 7" - 10".
Price: $5.00
Breast Collar
A unique design with a 3-sided knot at the chest. Very flexible, easy to clean and not affected by sweat. Fully adjustable tugs are made of braiding cord to attach to cinch rings, D rings or to loop through gullet as a pulling collar. Ring knots, which create loops for the tugs, are not attached to the rope so the collar can be adjusted to fit higher or lower across the shoulders.
Price: $65.00
plain
War Bridle
This piece of equipment should only be used by an experienced rider with a well trained horse. The large loop goes in the horse's mouth where a bit would go, the sliding ring knot is used to snug the bridle up under the chin, reins are attached to the eye spliced ends.
Price: $16.50 (standard style and size)
The photo gallery below shows the steps to make the rope into a halter
Shoulder Strap
For holding a breast collar higher on shoulders. I can make it in different styles:
Another option if you are also ordering a rope breast collar at the same time would be to permanently attach the shoulder strap to the off side of the breast collar, then have either a button loop or braided buckle strap connector on the near side.
Price: $18.00 spliced in snaps
$39.00 rope button loop connectors or braided buckle straps
Cow Halter/Lead
Made with 3/8" rope. Spliced off side loop, tied-in ring on near side. All one piece - as you pull on the lead rope, the noseband and headpiece apply pressure. Similar to leather / chain style.
Price: $23.00
Custom order
tassels with turkshead knots attached to rein loops; a sliding turkshead knot instead of the ring knot
Knotted Neck Rein
For riding bridle-less or as a balance aid when riding bareback. Made with the stiff halter cord. (I can make it with the soft rope but the stiff cord gives you better control for positioning.)
Price: $25.00 1 color
$32.00 2 colors
standard style
This page shows equipment that does not fit into any of the other categories. Some are fairly standard pieces while others are one-of-a-kind custom items. As with all my tack, you can usually customize as to size, length, etc. and also add custom trim to make it unique. Please visit the other pages for Rope Halters, Lead Ropes and Reins to see options for rope diameters and colors. Also for Custom Trim options that might be available.
