Sales Tax
By law I am required to collect sales tax on orders shipped to Illinois addresses. Tax rate is 6.25%.


Payment Options
Payment in full must be received before orders are sent out.

US orders:

Personal or Business Check or Money Order.  My address for sending the payment is on the Contact page.  Make it payable to Carol Vander Wyst or to Y Knot Rope Tack - whichever you prefer for your records.  There will be a $25.00 fee for any bad checks.

Cash.  If you are in the local area and order or pick up your equipment at my shop, you can pay with cash.

Credit Card or Paypal through Paypal money request.  I will send an email money request for the total after the order is finalized.  You just follow the links in the email -- pay by using any valid credit card or by using a Paypal account if you have one.  You do not have to have a Paypal account to use this option.

Credit Card by phone.  I can take your cc info over the phone - please do not send the information in an email - and process the payment through my Paypal credit card service.  (Due to increased security concerns by most credit card companies, larger dollar amounts may be declined when cc info is entered by someone other than the cardholder.) 


These are the only payment options I accept.  Bank transfers, other bank / online / direct payments, e-checks or any other forms of payment will not be accepted.


International Orders:

Paypal through money request email is the only payment method accepted.  I will send a money request email for the total after the order is finalized.


Transaction Fee:

On US orders that have met the requirements to receive a discount, I will charge a 3% transaction fee when the payment is made by credit card or paypal.  There is no fee when paying with a check or money order or cash.

On international orders that receive a discount or total $100.00 or more, the transaction fee will be 4% due to the additional costs of currency conversion, etc.


Shipping/Handling
US orders:

USPS Priority Mail. Tracking information and minimal insurance (for value up to $50.00) is included.  You will receive an email notice from USPS with the tracking number if you have provided me with an email address.  There is no guarantee on delivery time but most packages are delivered within 2 - 3 days.  I charge retail shipping costs determined by the Post Office based on weight and destination. I will find the best deal - flat rate package, regional box, etc. A small handling fee of $2.00 -$3.00 is added to each package to help defray some of the costs I incur during the processing, packaging and shipping of your order.  Handling charge on orders that contain sticks may be a bit more.

Minimum shipping/handling charge for any package is $10.00 

After I deliver the package to the Post Office, it becomes the buyer’s responsibility and I am not liable for any loss or damage during transit. For your protection, I would recommend adding insurance on orders of high value.  


USPS First Class Mail.  Some small items can be shipped using regular mail.  Items weighing 8 oz or less (i.e. 6' string) can usually be shipped by regular mail for a few dollars less than priority mail.  No insurance is included and delivery time may be 1 - 3 days longer.


You always have the option to pick up your order and therefore avoid any shipping/handling charges - contact me to work out the details.


International Orders:

USPS Priority Mail.  Tracking information is provided for some countries.  If your order value is more than $200.00, you must also purchase insurance.  Unfortunately, international shipping rates are very high - minimum cost is around $35.00 depending on destination.

First Class International.  For small packages weighing 4 pounds or less.  Minimum cost is around $25.00 depending on destination.  No tracking or insurance is available for this option.


Due to the additional time required to deal with customs forms, etc., handling charge on international orders is $10.00 minimum per package.



Guarantees and Returns
General  

-- If any product is unsatisfactory in quality or workmanship, it may be returned for a full refund of purchase price.  Please contact me before returning any item.  Shipping charge will not be refunded and customer must pay return shipping costs.  Item must be in new, clean, unused condition for a full refund.  If item is not in new, clean, unused condition, the refund amount may be reduced. 

-- If, after normal use, you are not satisfied with any item, please contact me to discuss options.

-- I do not guarantee snaps or any hardware against breakage.  In fact, in most instances, it is preferable that the snap/ring does break to avoid injury to the animal.


Rope Halters

-- I do not guarantee the fit of any halter unless I take the actual head measurements myself.

-- If I take the measurements on your horse and a custom size halter does not fit to your satisfaction, you may return the halter for a full refund.  Halter should only be used 1 or 2 times to check the fit. If halter is very dirty, has been damaged, and/or has obviously been used several times, refund amount may be reduced.

-- If I do not take the measurements and rely on those sent by the customer, I do not guarantee the fit of a halter.  The halter may be sent back for adjustment but all shipping charges will be the responsibility of the customer.  

-- Please contact me before returning any halter due to size issues - I may be able to suggest some simple adjustments that you can make to correct the problem. 

--​ Note:  Whipping or tacking of halter loops (where you attach the lead or reins) is not intended to be permanent.  This serves to keep the loops together so it will be easier for you to feed the rope through the fiador knot evenly should any adjustments be necessary when you receive your new halter.  (In other words, this will help you make adjustments without destroying your halter.)  It also is a reminder to always keep the loops together – never attach lead ropes or reins to just one of the loops.


Reins

-- I cannot guarantee that reins will be exactly a certain length.  They may be 1 - 2 " longer or shorter. These are hand made items and variances in the rope, temperature, humidity, etc. can affect splicing.

-- For reins with connectors, I consider the total length to include all snaps and connectors.  If you ordered the wrong length, you may return the reins for exchange or refund only if they are a standard length (8', 9' or 10') and have no custom options.  All shipping charges will be the responsibility of the customer.  Please contact me before returning any reins.


Guarantee on stick loop
The 1/4" rope loop on any training stick is guaranteed not to come off the end of the stick under normal use or I will replace the loop at no charge.  Customer must pay all shipping charges.  This guarantee only applies to sticks purchased after January 1, 2013. The guarantee applies only to the attachment of the rope loop and does not cover any other wear or failure of the loop, knot, stick or handle.  If the stick is broken resulting in the loop coming off, the guarantee does not apply.


Cancelled Orders

-- You may cancel an order any time before I make the equipment.  

-- If I have started making your order, you are obligated to take any item that is finished.  Custom items cannot be cancelled once they are made.  Standard items that have been made may be cancelled at my discretion. 

-- Purchase price of cancelled items will be refunded minus any credit card or Paypal transaction fees, if applicable.
