ABOUT THE TRIM... |
 |
| |

|
Buttons, tassels, knotted
browbands (with or without fly fringe), decorative
knots, braided trim on nosebands and reins, and any other trim
you would like me to add to your items are made with 1/8"
– 3/16" polypropylene or nylon paracord in your choice
of colors or with 1/8", 6 – 7 oz weight leather lace in
your choice of colors.

Trim Colors: (left to right)
Leather in black,
burgundy, acorn tan; Paracord in black, white, pacific
blue, royal blue,
red, yellow, kelly green, navy, burgundy, tan, hunter green,
pink, purple, raspberry, turquoise, lime

| Trim on
nosebands and reins
is a doubled, two-bight Turk’s Head braid. This is a
true braid, not just a cord wrapped around the rope.
Since it is doubled, two colors of paracord or lace can
be used to create unique color combinations. Use trim
colors to coordinate halters, bridles and reins with
your saddle pad or outfit! |
|
| Knotted
Browbands, with and without Fly Fringe, can
easily be attached to a bridle or halter with ties that
work just like your rope halter tie end to allow for
infinite sizing options. The Knotted Browband can be used
alone or tied over the top of your existing browband.
Choose from a fancy knotted V pattern or a regular
straight band, with or without fly fringe. Multiple
colors of paracord can be used to create unique
combinations and patterns. Add a Knotted Browband to create a
new look! |
|
| Buttons
on lead ropes are made of
leather lace in a tripled three-bite Turk’s Head
braid. The end of the rope is whipped with polyester
cord then dipped in rope sealant. The lace is inserted
through the rope and both ends are used to braid the
button, securing it to the rope. |

| Tassels
on loop reins are
approximately 7 – 8" long. The rope is first
finished with a back splice. The cord is then
inserted through the rope and secured with a Turk’s
Head Knot.
Tassels on Mecate reins
are approximately 9 - 10" long. The rope is
first finished with a back splice. The tassel
cords are then secured to the rein with a pineapple
knot. See description below.
Individual tassels are
made with an adjustable attachment loop so you can put
one anywhere you want! Available in small (4 -
5") or medium (7 - 8")
(I make my tassels with paracord or
leather lace instead of simply fraying the end of the
rope. The frayed, fluffy tassel looks nice until you
actually use your reins on the trail where they pick up
burs and all sorts of debris that is hard to get out.)

| Pineapple
Knot (sometimes called Gaucho Knot) Buttons
are decorative and functional. Because of its
construction, this knot can close completely over a
round surface making it a great way to secure tassels
for mecate reins or finish ends of various items. It is
usually braided with contrasting colors to show the
details of this intricate knot. Many steps are needed to
complete the pineapple knot, but what a beautiful way to
customize your tack! |
